Summer Story Times

Lapsit Story Time (parents & tots)

Skills and attention spans vary, children may register for two levels at the same time.

Spanish Story Time is Back!
Last Saturday of the month (May - July) at 2 pm.
Join Miss Elisa for Spanish stories, games and crafts. This is not an instructional class, but students learning Spanish are encouraged to attend to improve listening skills and pronunciation, increase vocabulary and have fun. Register at the Circulation Desk or call 447.3577 x1


Catch the Reading Bug!
Register June 5th - June 14th Program runs June 9 to July 26
Thursday, June 5th Kickoff Event
Marsh-Mallo the Clown will perform magic tricks and create balloon animals. The 2008 Youth Summer Reading Club starts with this kickoff program from 7 to 8:30 pm. Lyons youth from newborn to fifteen may register for the club, receive a participation kit and learn about the reading goals for this year.
There will also be games and craft stations open.


Letters to Read
Saturdays, May 31 through August 30 at 10:30
Recognizing letters and relating letters to sounds are the first steps in learning to read.
Lyons pre-school residents may enroll in our new program recommended by the American Library Assoc. and U.S. Dept. of Education. Please register, space is limited
Every Child Ready to Read @ the Library


Clay Bug Garden
Saturday, June 14 at 2 pm
Use clay to create a variety of insects. Suggestions provided for painting bugs once fully dry.


Bug Drawing Step-by-Step
Wednesday, June 25 at 2 pm
Youth nine and up will learn simple steps to drawing spiders, a spider web and beetles.


Patriotic Craft Club
Monday-Thursday, June 30-July 3 at 2 pm
Four sessions to create patriotic decorations including a magnetic picture frame, starry door hanger, mobile and hand print eagle. Dress for painting on Thursday.
