Historic Sites in Lyons

These land marks are visible signs of Lyons' rich community heritage and history

  • Hofmann Tower constructed in 1908 was registered as a National Historic Landmark in 1978. 
     
  • Loughton Trading house building site marker is located west of Harlem Avenue and south of 47th Street. The site is the location of the early settler, David Loughton's trading house. The trading house is the first known permanent building to be constructed west of the City of Chicago.
     
  • Hofmann Office Building, constructed by George Hofmann, is now occupied by the Lyons Health Department and the Lyons Historical Commission.
